The leaves have a spicy scent when crushed ,used medicinaly and also used as fly repellent. The red fruits taste sweet and sour, can be used for jams and jelly also contains Vitamin C and A .
Not hardy, prefers minimum of 5 C degrees and full sun , older plants can tolerate mild frost
